Brighton Rock is an upcoming film based on the novel by Graham Greene. It played at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010 and the BFI London Film Festival in October 2010. It is due to be released in the United Kingdom on 4 February 2011. The novel was previously made into a film in 1947 by John Boulting under the same title.
Although the novel and original film are both set in the 1930s, this film has been moved forward to 1964, during the mods and rockers era.
The film stars Sam Riley as “Pinkie”, the role originally played by Richard Attenborough. The cast also includes Andrea Riseborough, Andy Serkis, John Hurt and Helen Mirren.
